Voted 'Best Hair Growth Serum' 2022 by Good Housekeeping Institute

Stimulate hair follicles, improve cell turnover on the scalp, and prevent hair loss and thinning, while actively promoting thicker, fuller hair growth.

Hero ingredient pumpkin seed extract is scientifically proven to help block the production of the hormone DHT, a major hair loss offender. Meanwhile, retinol and lactic acid work to decongest follicles, removing dead skin and debris that can inhibit hair growth and promote healthy cell renewal.

All products are dermatologically tested, cruelty-free, and suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Anyone who wants to achieve thicker, fuller hair growth, including those dealing with hair loss and thinning.

All products are dermatologically tested, cruelty-free, and suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

1. Starting with dry or towel-dried hair, apply one to two drops of serum on the hairline and along the parting, spaced evenly.

2. Gently massage across the scalp until the serum has fully absorbed. A little goes a long way, so focus the serum on areas of concern.

3. Do not rinse. We recommend using it at night, daily. This allows ingredients to activate overnight, while protecting from UV exposure.

increase in hair thickness and density

winner: best hair growth serum

"The Follicle Boost Hair Density Serum trumped all others, improving hair growth and overall health, and limiting breakages for most of our panel. Lab results showed an improvement in hair thickness and density.

Not only was hair shinier and more voluminous, but everyone also spotted fewer split ends. Most agreed it had a positive impact on their hair loss problem after eight weeks." - Good Housekeeping Institute

Ingredients

This gentle yet effective ingredient has been scientifically proven to block the 5-alpha reductase enzyme that produces DHT, a byproduct of testosterone that causes hair loss. It initially targets the catagen and telogen phases, working to minimise excess shedding. It also boosts the growth of new follicles leaving the telogen phase and entering into a new cycle of the anagen phase. This powerful extract also stimulates follicles, delivers nutrients and boosts circulation to the scalp.

As the holy grail anti-ageing active ingredient, retinol proliferates cell growth, collagen synthesis, minimises sebum production and boosts the smoothness of the scalp. By resurfacing the scalp, speeding up cell turnover and decongesting follicles, it improves the absorption of other hair growth boosting ingredients.

This antibacterial active ingredient works to exfoliate and decongest hair follicles by promoting healthy cell renewal, creating the perfect environment for healthy hair growth. It also enhances shine and relieves dryness by washing away flakes and dead skin cells.

THE HAIR GROWTH CYCLE

Have you ever wondered ‘how does hair grow?’. Hair on the scalp grows about 1cm per month in healthy individuals. Just like skin cells, our hair undergoes a cycle of growth, transition, rest and renewal. At any given time, hairs will independently cycle through one of three stages of growth: anagen, catagen, and telogen. The Follicle Boost Hair Density Serum works to enhance and target the natural hair growth cycle, extending the anagen (growth) phase, shortening length of the telogen (shedding) phase and stimulating dormant hair follicles with concentrated active ingredients.

addressing hair & scalp health at the root

Hormones

The relationship between hair and hormones starts as we are born and continues through every stage of life. From DHT to oestrogen, hormones play one of the most vital roles in our hair and scalp health. The hair growth cycle and the hair follicle structure are directly affected by the hormones in our bloodstream. Fluctuations in sex hormones, stress hormones and thyroid hormones all have various effects on the hair and scalp, and are often the culprits of sudden disruptions in their their health.

Stress

Stress compromises the health of your body in a variety of ways, the retention of your hair being one of them. Exposure to stress hormones over many weeks reduces hair growth as hair follicles remain in an extended telogen (resting) phase, a condition known as Telogen Effluvium, whereby up to 70% of growing hairs can abruptly shift into the resting phase (versus the normal 15% that elicits shedding before a new anagen phase).

Lifestyle

Through a process called oxidative stress, environmental aggressors (such as cigarette smoke, pollutants, UV radiation or even certain products or foods) can damage various cellular structures in the hair follicle. Oxidative stress breaks down cell tissue and causes DNA damage, which can result in inflammation. Research has shown that oxidative stress also contributes to hair loss by impairing the scalp’s ability to support healthy cell renewal, and in turn, healthy hair growth.

Nutrition

Hair cells are the second fastest-dividing cells in the human body. Each individual has roughly 120,000 hairs on their scalp, all of which require nourishment and fuel to grow and proliferate. Nutritional deficiencies, particularly in iron, zinc, Vitamin D, biotin and Vitamin B12, can impact the hair’s structure, follicle development, immune cell functioning, and ultimately, hair growth. By supporting healthy nutrition, you can support a healthy hair growth cycle.

Ageing

As we age, the body undergoes many changes and fluctuations, with our hair being no exception. Turning grey is just one of the many changes that confront our hair as we age. In fact, hair ageing affects hair colour, hair curvature, hair diameter and the structural properties of the hair fibre. Research suggests that over 52% of women will experience some form of hair loss by the age of 50, and by the age of 60, approximately 80% will undergo changes in their hair density.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When can I expect to see results?

The average hair’s growth rate is around 1cm a month. The Follicle Boost Hair Density Serum enhances the natural hair growth cycle, activating dormant hair follicles with concentrated active ingredients. Here’s what you can expert with daily use:

Months 1-2

Initially targets the catagen (transition) and telogen (shedding) phases. You’ll notice less excess shedding.

Months 3-4

Boosts the growth of new strands leaving the telogen phase and entering into a new cycle of the anagen (growth) phase. You’ll begin to see fuller hair.

Months 5-6

Prolongs the anagen phase, resulting in visible hair growth, thickness and fullness.

It is important to approach your hair growth journey with patience and consistency, with the understanding that it forms part of the broader hair growth cycle.

Why am I losing hair after giving birth?

Many women experience hair loss after giving birth due to a natural but sudden decline in the hormone oestrogen. In the first weeks postpartum, hairs enter the shedding phase in what they call a ‘synchronous wave’, reaching about 30% after nine weeks, which explains how most postpartum hair loss is experienced two to four months after childbirth. Luckily, postpartum hair loss is very common and only temporary. Hair growth can be cultivated with the right routine.

How often do I need to apply the product?

For maximum results, we recommend applying the serum daily as part of your morning or night routine. As the hair grows underneath the skin for a full two weeks before it emerges on the scalp, it is important to prioritise care and attention during the hair’s incubatory period. Keep in mind that combating hair loss and boosting growth requires patience and consistency.

How long does a bottle of serum last?

How long the serum lasts depends on the frequency that you use it, but a little goes a long way. If you use it as a daily treatment, it should last around 6-8 weeks (on average). If you use it to spot treat areas of concern, it can last longer, around 3 months on average. Once opened, the life of the serum lasts between 18-24 months.

Should I apply the serum to wet or dry hair?

The serum can be applied when hair is dry, damp or towel-dried after a shower. We recommend applying the serum to damp or towel-dried hair to optimise absorption and to prevent any oily residue.

Can I use the serum while pregnant or breastfeeding?

All products are dermatologically tested, suitable to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding and cruelty free.
