THE SCALP: THE UNSUNG HERO OF HAIR HEALTH

At MONPURE, scalp health is at the heart of everything we do. Many of us know how to treat the skin on our face and body. However, the same care and attention is often overlooked when it comes to the scalp. Ultimately, a healthy scalp is the foundation of healthy hair.

Healthy hair begins at the scalp, with follicles incubating for two weeks before emerging on the surface.

Fostering a healthy scalp environment, activating dormant hair follicles and stimulating the scalp’s natural healing mechanisms directly impact the quality of the hair once it starts to emerge.

We are pioneering science and wellness into haircare with holy grail active ingredients, which allows our products to create the optimal foundation for healthy and prosperous hair.

BALANCING YOUR SCALP MICROBIOME

The human body is made up of over 100 trillion microbes - microscopic single-celled bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms that combine to form what is known as a ‘microbiome’, an ecosystem that keeps the body’s vital systems in balance.

The scalp microbiome is vital for keeping your scalp and hair healthy. It provides the first line of defence against harmful pathogens, shielding the hair follicles and scalp from infection, toxins, irritation, hair damage and more. This results in a stronger scalp barrier and healthier hair.

HOW TO TARGET YOUR HAIR GROWTH CYCLE

Hair growth starts at the scalp. Hair strands independently cycle through one of three stages of growth: anagen, catagen, and telogen. It is important to understand, harness and target your hair growth cycle to tackle disruptions such as hair loss, thinning and hair ageing. MONPURE products work to enhance and target the natural hair growth cycle, extending the anagen (growth) phase, shortening length of the telogen (shedding) phase and stimulating dormant hair follicles with pioneering active ingredients.

ANAGEN (Growth Phase)

Rapid division of cells and lengthening of the hair strand. As cells divide they push existing cells upwards, and the hair grows longer. As cells are pushed upward (and away from the blood supply) they become keratinised and die. About 90% of hairs are in this phase, where hair grows about 1cm every 28 days.

CATAGEN (Transition Phase)

Hair cells stop dividing. The follicle shrinks and active hair growth ceases. The hair separates from the base of the hair follicle. About 3% of hairs are in the catagen phase.

TELOGEN (Resting Phase)

The hair cannot grow and eventually sheds from the scalp. Telogen hairs can also be removed by brushing. Then, new hairs begin to form in the follicles. About 10-15% of hairs are in the telogen phase.
