Everything in MONPURE’s results-driven range stars nourishing botanicals and potent active ingredients sustainably sourced from all over Europe. But many of their indigenous roots are actually further afield. While we continue to scour the globe for the latest scalp and haircare wonder-plants, here are some that we’re particularly proud of.
From North America …
Jojoba is a North American plant (pronounced “hohoba”) from which a liquid wax can be extracted and turned into beads that can be used to gently buff away dead skin cells and product build-up on the scalp. Far less abrasive than salt scrubs, and better for the environment than micro-beads (which are now illegal anyway). You can find them in our Clarifying Scalp Scrub.
A natural toner and anti-inflammatory, witch hazel is a flowering plant with powerful healing properties. Ideal for treating irritated scalps, it’s historically been used in skincare remedies for ailments such as rashes, insect bites, bruises and minor burns - and is renowned for calming sensitive skin. As well as being indigenous to North America, there are also species in Japan and China. It stars in our Hydrate and Soothe Scalp Serum.
From Africa …
A nut extract from the African shea tree, this is a hugely popular ingredient in skincare, as it gets swiftly absorbed into the skin without leaving any greasy residue. It’s also renowned for repairing damaged skin, making it perfect for treating scalp discomfort. Reap its benefits in our Clarifying Scalp Scrub.
This highly sought-after haircare ingredient is produced from Argan trees in Morocco and is packed with essential fatty acids and vitamin E to boost elasticity and shine. What makes it particularly great for hair is that its consistency is lighter than other plant-based oils, so doesn’t leave it feeling greasy or heavy. Treat your scalp and hair to its moisturising prowess via our Strengthening Essence-Conditioner.
From the Arabian Peninsula...
You might already be familiar with this ingredient as a popular after-sun or sunburn remedy. It’s a succulent plant that grows in arid landscapes around the world and is full of what’s known as polysaccharides which are famous for their hydrating and anti-inflammatory powers (so it’s a hero for issues like irritation, itching and dryness). Not only does it hydrate and calm, it also makes a great cleanser, which is why it’s the hero ingredient in our Strengthening Silk Protein Shampoo.
