With the increasing drop in temperatures, many of you might have seen a change in your scalp’s condition (increased dryness, flaky skin and itching etc.) So now is no better time to start establishing some good scalpcare habits, to improve your scalp’s condition and enjoy stronger, healthier hair in the long run.
Several of our own team members and friends at MONPURE are adopting some scalpcare habits already – and keeping a diary of any changes they notice in their scalp and hair’s condition. Stay tuned to see how they get on!
"I have very dry and dehydrated skin naturally, so my scalp is the same. Because of this, I notice that it overproduces oil and makes my hair get greasy really quickly! It’s also quite sensitive, so I find that using formulas with more aggressive ingredients can leave it feeling itchy, flaky and uncomfortable."
"I’ve heard that going sulphate-free is the way when it comes to combating a dry scalp, so I’ll be switching to the Strengthening Silk Protein Shampoo and Strengthening Essence-Conditioner. I’m very excited to see how the latter will play out, as normally we’re only told to condition the ends of our hair (whereas you can also use this one on the scalp!) I’m also a massive fan of the Follicle Boost Hair Density Serum – the fact that it can help exfoliate away flakes while hydrating your scalp skin just sounds right up my street."
"I’m hoping that by the end of my journey, my scalp will feel a lot more balanced, healthy and strong. I’m also hoping to see a lot less flakes and I’m also curious to see if my hair stays fresher for longer with the new routine!"
"Long before joining MONPURE, I took skincare and scalpcare matters into my own hands! As a child, my parents would often find me in the bath with an egg, jar of honey or yoghurt concoction in a bid to eradicate the eczema on my face and scalp! (I also had a plum-sized patch of hair loss at the nape of my neck.) My parents would tentatively kiss me goodnight in bed whilst I lay on my back with my face covered with a full centimetre of aqueous cream to soothe the red, scaly skin on my face."
"Growing up, I flirted with the idea of scalp treatments’ but I never recognised the importance of ‘scalpcare’ per se, nor did I understand how to care for the delicate skin on my scalp, nor the positive impact this could have on my hair health. Take scalp scrubbing. While I’m fully aware of the benefits of a freshly scrubbed face followed by a slick of moisturiser (the same goes for my legs when summer) why then do I not treat my scalp in the same way?"
"So my regular skincare-scalpcare routine will now include a weekly session with the Clarifying Scalp Scrub, as well as a daily dose of the Hydrate and Soothe Scalp Serum – a duo which I hope will eradicate and prevent the appearance of any unwanted itchy, flaky, dry scalp-skin!"
"As I work in a hospital I have to wash my hair every day, using a shampoo and conditioner, which over time can dry out both my hair and scalp. So on the days I’m not working, I’m going to give my hair and scalp a break from washing (as over-washing can strip both of their natural oils). In addition to this, I’m going to be using the Nourish and Stimulate Scalp Mask a few times per week as I really enjoy how clean it makes my scalp and hair feel, and how relaxing it is to use. And with a healthy scalp comes healthier hair, so over time I’m hoping it’ll help prevent split ends too!"
"I’ve recently started experiencing scalp issues, particularly dryness, tenderness and itchiness. I attribute these problems to my increase in wearing wigs and hair extensions with more regularity since lockdown, which could potentially be aggravating my scalp."
"I must admit, I don’t pay my scalp the attention it deserves, as I don’t typically suffer from any scalp issues. I know that scalp care is the foundation of healthy hair so I would like to change this and start implementing an effective scalp routine."
"I intend to apply Hydrate and Soothe Scalp Serum to my scalp during the evenings as part of my night time hair routine, and I’ll apply Nourish and Stimulate Scalp Mask on wash day, after shampooing my hair, and prior to conditioning. These two products seem like the best options for combating the scalp issues I am currently experiencing. I’m hoping for a ‘scalp reset’ by the end of this trial. I’d love for my scalp to be soothed, nourished and flake free!"
"Before joining MONPURE I never used to think about scalpcare. And yet, once you are prompted to think about it, you wonder how you had been so blind to think of hair as being a separate entity to the scalp – you tend to just associate it with issues like irritation and dandruff, as opposed to being the source of healthy hair."
"I currently live in a city with the absolute worst water, which is giving me dry, flaky scalp-skin. So the Clarifying Scalp Scrub is going to be a must! And I’m also keeping the Nourish and Stimulate Scalp Mask to hand, so I can grab it at the first sight of dandruff! The Follicle Boost Hair Density Serum is also going to be a good support to help nourish my scalp. I’m currently expecting, so I think I will apply it every other day for now, and every day when I will be post-natal."
"Hopefully this combo will help me maintain a healthy scalp and luscious hair, despite the fluctuations in hormones!"
"I hate to say it, but despite being a total beauty junkie from the age of 11 – scalpcare just wasn’t on the radar for me. I had scalp issues for sure (itching and dandruff being the main culprits) but as my thick, mop of hair completely covered it, I tended to ignore it (or use a popular ‘2-in-1’ anti-dandruff shampoo which left my hair looking like straw in the process!) I was slightly clueless and alarmed at the lack of knowledge and products designed to boost scalp health (and therefore hair health!). So I assumed (wrongly) that caring for the scalp just wasn’t that important."
"Since joining MONPURE I’ve definitely become more attentive to my long-neglected noggin’! As my hair is fairly thick, curly and textured (I’d say 2b), I definitely don’t wash it every day. However my scalp is prone to dryness and itching so it needs a little extra loving when I do wash it. So I’ll be giving it a boost by applying the Nourish and Stimulate Scalp Mask before I get in the shower. I’m hoping it will boost my scalp condition and reduce itching and flaking in the long run (with vitamin-rich camellia tea oil), plus the ‘zing’ I feel when applying it feels incredible, like getting a mini scalp massage in a jar!"
"I’m also going to be applying the Follicle Boost Hair Density Serum to areas like around the hairline at the temples (where I’ve noticed slight hair thinning) and the nape of my neck where the hair tends to break off easily. Stay tuned…"
