To mark B-Corp month, MONPURE is proud to announce that we’re a pending B-Corp – an incredibly important certification for a company to have. B Corps are legally bound to balance the planet and people with profit margins. So as a consumer, you can rest assured that every step of the production process – from our team culture, to ingredients and suppliers, to packaging and shipping, has this in mind.
Here at MONPURE we’re all about caring for our beautiful planet and its people as much as we do your scalp and hair, it’s important to us that we stay true to our sustainable ethos at every step of this journey. And hopefully where we lead, more beauty brands will follow.
How we’re making a difference
For example, all our suppliers are handpicked for having the highest ethical standards. Plus our warehouse in Wales has won several social enterprise awards, while several of our manufacturers only work with natural ingredients and substitute toxic chemicals with sustainable alternatives. We have also partnered with charitable organisations such as The Little Princess Trust – a charity very close to our hearts, it provides free wigs made from real hair to children and young people aged 24 and under who have lost their hair through cancer or other illness. We are also helping to fund research into hair loss in partnership with The University of Manchester to further our social impact. During the summer of 2020, we also donated to Black Lives Matter to support their initiatives to dismantle systemic oppression.
We prioritise natural, sustainably sourced ingredients wherever possible. One of the ingredients we use that we’re particularly proud of is Silkgel - a pioneering new vegan alternative to regular silk peptides. It’s produced via a process of fermenting plant starch that has been clinically proven to not only repair fragile or damaged hair strands, but also protect the hair and scalp from pollution and bacteria.
We’re equally conscientious when it comes to our packaging, which features 100% post-consumer recycled plastic (which is also 100% recyclable). This is a type of plastic that has been reprocessed from other products that have been used and thrown away by consumers. A lot of the time, plastic objects that get discarded and recycled will get made into the same object (so an old shampoo bottle will be recycled to make a new one) thus closing the waste loop. This means that eventually, less plastic will end up in landfills, or in our oceans.
Plus, our shipping boxes and product packaging are printed using soy ink and our ecommerce orders use 100% biodegradable and compostable packing chips.
Our team culture is also of utmost importance and we believe in the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). MONPURE are committed to becoming a workplace where everyone can thrive regardless of nationality, social or ethnic background. As we grow as a business, we intend to partner with recruitment agencies representing talent who identify as BIPOC.
